Another drawing tool pixelart preview.

This is another preview of the pixelart piece that also includes the Prsimacolor marker and Micron pen, featured in this post.

This image is a set of four Staedler mechanical pencils. Specifically, the Graphite 925.

You can see the specific pencil I mean here;

Anyhow, here is the pixelart version.

I just made one pencil, and modified it for all four versions. The only difference is the color of the lead weight indicator. These are my favorite mechanical pencils, because of the small sliding ‘window’ which indicates what lead weight you’re using. The colors indicate the lead size. Blue it .07, red is .05, orange is .09, and yellow is .03.  I could have made the actual tip of the pencil wider for the two wider sizes, or at least for the .09, and I may alter that in the final version.

Now, as to what this specific work is…I decided to do a large pixelart featuring a large number of drawing utensils. Mechanical pencils, pens, markers, colored pencils, quill pens, etc. It will also include erasers, pastels, t squares, a compass, l squares, various drafting tools, etc. I’m trying to keep them all proportionate. Specifically, I started with the micron pen, and then used that as a guide. These Staelders were particularly difficult compared to the more simple things such as a colored pencil. The greater variety of surface detail made it difficult to get this right, and it ended up being far too long the first time I created the image.

Anyway, there it is! Another work-in-progress/preview. The final image should contain something like 50 or so drawing/drafting tools, all more or less to scale with each other

Girl near…some kind of bars/poles/tall metal things.

A young woman, standing near some sort of metal structure.

Something I might create…

I have a yearning to create a pixelart of a scientific calculator.

The next few posts…

Posting over the next few days will be a bit lighter, since I’ve mostly run out of stuff to post. Things should start to pick up to the previous pace over the weekend.  Plus, I need to diversify my posts. More infographics, more logos, identity stuff, some sculpture, more sketchup models, etc. Standard illustration will continue to be the main focus, however.

Sepia Ruins.

Just an ink drawing of a woman, roughly inspired (in appearance) by Rosa, from Final Fantasy 4, wearing a suit. I felt like doing something in sepia, with a lot of linework. The Roman structure is not at all related to the character. It just happens to be on the same page.

Mountains and red clouds.

Just some mountains and red clouds.

Curved sofa.

A sketch of a curved sofa, with an overhang/enclosure. I just liked the idea of a sofa or chair with some sort of awning/enclosure sort of element.

Cthulhu Opera House development.

Sketches of various elements that will be part of a coat-of-arms for an opera house, with an octopus/cthulhu head.

Geometric chair.

Just two more sketches of furniture.

A geometric chair made of stone. It may not be the most comfortable chair ever, but it looks distinct.

Furniture doodles part 1 and a sketchup model.

Okay, obviously I am not the best with Sketchup, but I include it here for the sake of completion, and for feedback should anyone wish to give it. This is just a decorative, semi-functional outdoor bench design. I did the rough sketch first, then created a simple model in sketchup, and included those images so you have a better idea of the actual dimensions and shape of this thing.

Obviously this would not be the most comfortable bench for long term use, but as I said, this is meant to be decorative as much as it is functional. The actual sketchup model below is a bit longer, and more narrow, than this drawing. The bevel/slope on the segments is just to give it a more pleasing sense of shape.

I may update the model to add the detailing seen on the legs. This was just meant to give a general impression of the shape and size of the bench, as opposed to anything extremely detailed. No texture is suggested, but if this were actually made, I would envision it as being made primarily of steel and concrete, and colored similarly to whatever it’s structural surroundings are.
